Happy New Year! We hope you had a wonderful time over the festive season.

To start off our New Year here at North East Art Collective, we would like to introduce you to our New Artists. The gallery is always seeking local talent, and we are sure that our most recent additions will add an extra dimension to our already extensive collection and complement the existing genres in the gallery.

OUR LATEST ARTISTS

Towards the end of 2016 we were joined by…

Dawn Booth Wilson

Dawn’s current body of work; “Moving Forward, Looking Back” is based upon reflection and memory.  It encompasses tiny glimpses and cherished insights to a happy childhood spent with family and friends. Her naïve characters and colourful backgrounds convey deep and meaningful messages, which resonate deeply with the viewer.

Framed Original Mixed Media Work Available From £425
Mounted Open Edition Giclee Prints Available From £80

Graham Caffull

Maps have had a hypnotic effect on Graham for as long as he can remember and they have occasionally found their way into his art work.  Recently, he has found inspiration in identifying familiar places on maps, and has simply been using old, discarded Ordnance Survey and other maps as a base for his intricate pen & ink drawings and miniature watercolours.

Original Watercolour on Authentic Maps Available From £125

Albert G Thoms

Growing up on the Northeast coast Albert was always interested in the visual impact of the environment around him, drawing and painting the local scenes. Since retirement Albert has been encouraged to return to painting as a consequence of a demand for commissions, being retired allows him to devote the time to his art.

Original Acrylic On Canvas Available From £100

EARLIER IN 2016

At the start of 2016 we were joined by a few more Local Artists whose work you may not have had the time to come and see…

Joy and Peter Coal

Joy and Peter Cole are a wife and husband team working together designing and producing glass art as Joia Glass Art.

In 2005 Joy and Peter took a taster session in fused glass and were hooked!  They are mainly self-taught and have developed their own style, especially using texture and bright colours in their work.  They can take inspiration from anything – a walk, a sunset, textiles, stones, trees and nature in general.  Each piece Joy and Peter make is unique and handmade.

Original Fused Glasswork Available From £60

Zoe Scott

Zoe Emma Scott is an Artist & Illustrator based in South Tyneside.  Originally from Northumberland, Zoe is a self-taught artist who turned her hobby into a career in 2013 following an accident that left her unable to return to her role for the NHS.
Zoe is inspired by bright, cheerful colours and perfect summer days out.  She enjoys painting in watercolours and likes to add an element of humour to all her painting

Original Watercolour Available From £250
Framed Open Edition Giclee Prints Available From £75
Mounted Open Edition Giclee Prints Available From £15
Dishwasher Safe Ceramic Mugs Available From £12.50

John Speight

John Speight has been a professional papercut artist since 1990. Although John is the third generation in a line of silhouette profile cutters, he decided not to cut traditional portraits and instead set about creating his own unique range of contemporary silhouette designs.
Each one of John’s pictures is individually hand-cut using a scalpel. This ensures that each papercut is a unique original. With few exceptions they are cut in one piece. They are then mounted onto hand-tinted watercolour paper and signed on the mount.

Original Papercuts Available From £15

Posted by on Nov 24, 2015 in Blog | Comments Off on 5 Years…And Still Going Strong!

2015 saw us celebrating our 5th birthday!

In the last five years we have gone from strength to strength-winning awards and supporting more and more artists & designers to showcase and sell their work.

We have built up corporate partnerships and supported many charities, with plans to continue building more.

This would not have been possible without the help and support of all our customers and for this we would like to say a big ‘Thank you’
